Overview

TC Channel Bonding Service is where multiple ADSL connections of the same type and speed are combined to create a single virtual high-speed connection. This complex operation allows for the creation of high speed internet connections and high-speed inter-branch connections.  Up to 5 ADSL lines can be bonded together to create an ultra highspeed link capable of significantly fast upload and download speeds.

TC Channel Bonding Internet Service

For internet connectivity, the TC Channel Bonding Internet Service routes your traffic across the TC high speed internet backbone where we currently have multiple 100Mb links in place to ensure our customers are able to realise the full potential of these high speed links. We currently average less than 10% utilisation of our available capacity and will upgrade this capacity as and when required to ensure we maintain a high level of service.

The solution requires the installation of a Bonding Router with the appropriate number of ADSL ports and the purchase of a TC Premium Bandwidth package based on the required bandwidth.

The TC Channel Bonding Internet Service gives you:

  • Significantly increased internet access through multiple ADSL lines
  • Direct access to the TC high speed internet backbone
  • International landing point in Europe with low latency (<200ms)
  • Fixed IP address (/29 – 5 usable)
  • Redundancy - multiple ADSL lines (automatically included or excluded from the bonding solution based on current status of each ADSL line)
  • Integrated ADSL modems
  • Flexibility – add more lines and upgrade your Premium ADSL bandwidth when required
  • Monthly pricing includes provision of all the required hardware

The diagram below highlights the performance achieved using the TC Channel Bonding Internet Service with 4 ADSL lines and downloading a file from the Microsoft web site. The download peaked at 1.45MB/sec and averaged 1.29MB/sec.

TC Channel Bonding Inter-Branch Service

For inter-branch connectivity, the TC Channel Bonding Inter-Branch Service creates high speed communication links between your offices/ branches and head office. One of the biggest problems with a single ADSL line at a office, is that it can only send traffic at a maximum of 384Kb/sec even though it can receive traffic a up to 4Mb/sec. The reason for this is that ADSL operates at different speeds when it sends traffic versus when it receives traffic. This puts a limit on the connection speed you establish between two offices.

By using the TC Channel Bonding Inter-Branch Service, we are able to combine multiple ADSL lines and increase the upload capability across that line. Using 3 ADSL lines at an office, the upload speed would increase to 1152Kb/sec and using 5 ADSL lines, the upload speed would increase to 1920Kb/sec. In addition to the increased performance, you also have increased redundancy should an ADSL line fail as it would continue to operate on the remaining ADSL lines at the office.

The solution requires the installation of a Bonding Router with the appropriate number of ADSL ports at each office, installation of a Bonding Concentrator with the appropriate number of ADSL ports at head office and the purchase of a TC Inter-Branch Bandwidth package which will be allocated across the various offices including head office. Note that the bandwidth is measured at each Bonding Device.

The TC Channel Bonding Inter-Branch Service gives you:

  • Significantly increased inter-branch communications through multiple ADSL lines
  • Redundancy - multiple ADSL lines (automatically included or excluded from the bonding solution based on current status of each ADSL line)
  • Integrated ADSL modems
  • Flexibility – add more lines and upgrade your Branch ADSL bandwidth when required
  • Monthly pricing includes provision of all the required hardware
