VoIP
Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) revolutionised telephony by providing cheap or free telephone calls worldwide. However, current bandwidth limitations in South Africa restrict the volume and quality of these calls.
Altech Technology Concepts (ATC) has identified these constraints and introduced ViBE, a VoIP bandwidth enhancer technology developed by UK company Voipex. ViBE allows the prioritisation of VoIP traffic, reducing the amount of bandwidth used and cost per call, all the while improving the quality of the service.
ATC has an advanced network that delivers a world-class VoIP service. The network is gaining traction in the market and in order for ATC to ensure the best possible quality service, ViBE was implemented to overcome the limitations posed by existing technology.
ViBE enables voice and data to coexist on a single link, as data transfer rates are not compromised by the fact that voice is present. Classes of data can be given their own share of available bandwidth in a much more granular way, which means that the ADSL link can be used optimally, without sacrificing quality.
Another benefit of this architecture is that it can significantly reduce random packet loss on relatively low or poor quality broadband connections. The technology itself is largely network agnostic.
With bandwidth still at a premium in South Africa, there are some very real problems associated with using voice and data over the same broadband network connection. ATC is proud to offer an innovative solution that meets and exceeds customers’ needs and expectations.
ViBE makes running a VoIP system over conventional ADSL a reality and is designed for companies of all sizes and it features enterprise-level redundancy.
ViBE enables a cost-effective and technically superior alternative to traditional voice and has finally made VoIP a reality by radically improving the user experience.
